Some natural substances are good for a variety of uses. Earthly Body is using industrial hemp (grown organically) and soy in a novel way to create a combination scented candle, massage oil and moisturizing cream dubbed the Suntouched line. They offer three scents from which to choose; Dreamsicle, a citrus-based scent; Skinny Dip, which leans more toward vanilla and coconut; and my favorite Nag Champa, a floral blend with was that a hint of spice? Each 6-oz. candle comes in its own little metal tub with lid and a scooping spoon.
Suntouched candles burn 30-35% longer (60-hour burn time) and are much cleaner than traditional paraffin wax candles. I tried burning each candle in a separate room in my home. Each room took on a different personality and my husband went from room to room sniffing and enjoying. The scents were very light and are appropriate for people wanting a candle that doesn t overpower. They were so inviting I couldn t wait to give the oil a try.
The oil is produced during and after burning. According to Earthly Body, Suntouched candles only heat to three degrees above body temperature. One uses the little spoon to scoop out a little oil, or tip the candle slightly to pool the oil and dip your finger into it. At the risk of stating the obvious, be careful not to stick your finger into oil too close to the wick if it s still burning. The oil is thick, smooth in texture, very easy to apply, and penetrates slowly the way massage oil should be. When applied this way the product goes on thinly enough to leave a pleasing fragrance no reason to bother with perfume today! It leaves skin very soft. I would recommend using this oil as an after-bath moisturizer, especially before going to bed because the warmth tends to relax muscles.
When the product is cool, the little spoon helps you scoop out a little slice of the pale yellow, tan or cream-colored paste. Rub it between your hands and your body heat will melt it just enough it to make a smooth cream. This is the perfect consistency for rough spots like your feet. I now use it in the morning before I put on socks or stockings. It even keeps my calloused heels supple! It is also amazing on elbows and knees. If you routinely work at a desk, setting your elbows on the surface, you know how rough and itchy elbows can get. Keep a little tub of this product in your desk for use once or twice a day and you will have happy elbows. Please note that it only take a little of the product to work.
Suntouched candles are all-natural, vegan, and are advertised as safe even for a baby s skin. Earthly Body points out that hemp seed oil is known as nature's most perfectly balanced oil . The high concentration of essential fatty acids (EFA's) have the ability to enter directly into the lipid layers of dry skin cells and replenish the oils missing due to sun exposure, poor nutrition and other abuse. Dermatologists claim that EFA's replenish dry, damaged skin, preventing cell loss and creating younger looking skin. Hemp Seed oil has been used to heal dry skin and even minor burns.
Suntouched candles retail for about $15.99. More information on Sun Touched candles and other products from Earthly Body is available on the Earthly Body web site at www.earthlybody.com and Earthly Body products are available at spas, salons and beauty supply stores.
