Club Med Sandpiper Bay Offers Health Minded Retreats

From September through November, guests have the opportunity to experience enriching programs through the Club Med Fitness Academy led by 5x Ironman champion, Heather Gollnick. For the serious athlete, Club Med Sandpiper Bay will be holding a triathlon on-site Sept. 18, 2011. Guests can take part in the triathlon featuring two different distance events, a Sprint (475 yard swim, 10.5 mile bike and a 3.1 mile run) or Olympic distance event (1500 meter swim, 25 mile bike and 6.2 mile run.) During each event athletes will swim off the beach in the heart of Sandpiper Bay, bike the friendly streets of Port St. Lucie and run on the scenic golf course, finishing in the heart of the resort. For those looking to strengthen their core, Club Med Sandpiper Bay is offering a Pilates Retreat with Kathy Clark, M.ED, the founder of Extreme Core Pilates Studio, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2011. Guests can tone up during four days of Pilates, yoga, fitness and resort fun. Tuition is $168 per adult for four days, with room rates starting at $120pp* for double occupancy, $150pp* for single occupancy and $75pp* for children 2-15 years during the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 3, 2011.
Guests can get certified as a Youth Yoga Instructor through Club Med Sandpiper Bay’s Youth Yoga School, Oct. 9-14, 2011. This six-day training teaches guests how to educate children in yoga practices. The training is geared toward parents, school teachers, social workers, yoga teachers or those looking to expand their yoga knowledge. No teaching experience is necessary, but some yoga experience is suggested. Tuition is $168 per adult for six days, with room rates starting at $120pp* for double occupancy, $150pp* for single occupancy and $75pp* for children 2-15 years during the week of Oct. 8-Oct. 15, 2011.
For more yoga fun, guests can also participate in Club Med Sandpiper Bay’s Circus Yoga Retreat, Oct. 29-Nov.1, 2011. This four-day yoga retreat will be a fun-filled family event that helps to strengthen family bonds through partner/group activities, games and circus yoga training such as, Family and Community Yoga, Partner Yoga, Acrobatics & Flying, Group Games & Invention, Basic Circus Skills & Balance, Dance & Creative Movement and Thai Yoga Massage.
