Valued at $2,000, the $995 Getaway Features All Meals, Hot Springs/Jungle Tours, Spa Treatments and More

Lost Iguana Resort & Spa’s “Pura Vida” spa adventure package  includes everythhng from a volcano hike to indulgent treatments at the Golden Gecko Spa; all are  included in the seven-night $995 per person price ($1,260 single occupancy).  Valued at $2,000 and available November 15, the package represents more than a 50 percent saving on this weeklong vacation in the heart of Costa Rica’s lush Central Valley.

One of the few hotels facing the lava-flowing side of Arenal Volcano (one of the 10 most active in the world), the Lost Iguana Resort & Spa has 42 uniquely appointed rooms on 120 acres of primal rainforest with views of the volcano from every room.  When not viewing the natural fireworks display from the private balcony of their rooms, “Pura Vida” guests will be kept busy with hot springs and nature tours, plus a $500 spa credit per person.  Budding gourmands can also learn how to prepare Costa Rican specialties like gallo pinto (black beans and rice) or Chef Martin’s sopa ranchero, with chicken chunks and spicy vegetables, during complimentary twice-weekly classes through July.

Guests will also enjoy an evening at the Eco Termales Hot Springs, with four pools varying in temperature from 91 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit, including one with a cascading waterfall.

Costa Rica’s wildlife will be on full view during a choice of a private guided jungle hike to Arenal Volcano, or through Lost Iguana’s three miles of trails.  The hotel’s trails include 300-year-old trees, thousands of varieties of birds and other animals, hundreds of species of flowering plants, ferns and palms, and small rustic bridges that cross over rivers.

After spotting White-nosed Coati, Scintillant Hummingbirds and (naturally) some Black and Green iguanas, guests will enjoy up to $1,000 in treatments of choice at the resort’s Golden Gecko spa.  Built on five lushly landscaped acres next to a river, the spa has Balinese touches throughout.  Treatments for singles and couples are available in private open-air thatched bungalows with fireplaces.  A full menu of facials, wraps, massages and body polishes are available.  Guests may also opt for the unique “cocoon steam therapy” treatment, which purifies the body and softens skin.

The Golden Gecko is the only spa in Costa Rica to use YonKa products for facials. YonKa’s “au natural” products are made from plant and fruit extracts, blended with aromatic formulas from lavender, cypress, rosemary, thyme and geranium essential oils in order to balance, soothe, revive and rejuvenate skin complexions. The Golden Gecko also has a gym and saunas, which are complimentary for all guests, as well as pathways along the river dotted with benches for  bird-watching or curling up with a book.

Guests at Lost Iguana can also relax at the heated pool, or get a cold drink at the swim-up bar.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the Blue Hibiscus, an open-air restaurant with a view of the volcano.

Lost Iguana Resort & Spa’s seven-night “Pura Vida” spa adventure package saves guests 50 percent off regular rates.  The $995 per person double occupancy price ($1,260 single occupancy), includes seven nights in a standard deluxe room, all meals in Blue Hibiscus (not including alcohol), $500 spa credit per person, a volcano hike or nature tour, and hot springs evening.  The package is valid through November 15; some blackout dates apply.

For more information or to book, visit Lost Iguana Resort & Spa’s website  or call the hotel directly at 011(506) 2267-6148, or email maritzalostiguana@mac.com.
