The Health Club at One Aldwych has always been a welcome haven for men, and with good reason. Let me count the ways: The 8,000-square-foot facility includes a 60- by 13-foot lap pool with underwater music (it favors Mozart and Bach), steam and sauna rooms, and a gym with state-of-the art Technogym equipment that incorporates mini television sets and aromatherapy breezer fans on the treadmills. Then there’s the appealing pedigree: It occupies the two lower floors of the historic Edwardian building off The Strand, where a century ago, the first occupant, The Morning Post, printed its newspapers.

For a long time the Health Club has included treatments for men, but its recent partnership with Natura Bissé, a leading Spanish skincare brand that uses effective bio-regenerative ingredients from natural sources, was the perfect opportunity to refresh all the spa offerings. Among the newly developed menus are nine treatments just for men that encompass facials, body treatments, massage, and grooming.

Facials

Diamond Experience (90 min, £170). With newest skin care technology and over 30 active ingredients to renew cells and protect and firm skin, this treatment uses targeted massage to reawaken the senses and give the skin an immediate lift.

One Aldwych Spa Lobby

Pick Me Up Facial (30 min, £50). A quick reenergizer, especially after a flight or before a special occasion, this is tailored to skin needs, and includes a Glyco peel to smooth and hydrate the skin.

Skin Specific Facial (60 min, £90). Created for specific skin needs, this therapy involves a deep cleanse, a Glyco-peel, and an intensive mask to stimulate circulation.

Massage

Full Body Massage (60 min, £70). Natura Bisse’s Neuro-Aromatherapy products, including amaranth oil and mango butter, work to stimulate the senses and destress the mind.

One Aldwych Spa PoolBody Treatments

Bamboo Scrub and Body Massage (90 min, £110). A natural scrub with bamboo particles exfoliates the skin before a relaxing full body massage using targeted precise pressure and natural oils for calm and relaxation.

Dead Sea Back (60 min, £80). A back and shoulders therapy to relax muscles and treat the skin. Deep pore exfoliation and a purifying massage precede a mineral and salt-rich Dead Sea mask to sooth and cleanse the skin.

Grooming

Hydrating Manicure or Hydrating Pedicure (each 30 min, £45; combined, 60 min, £70). Hand and feet grooming includes gentle exfoliation and detoxifying algae masks to nourish and hydrate, plus a pressure-point cream massage rich in silk extracts for a soft finish.

Back Waxing or Chest and Abdomen Waxing (each 30 min, £26).

Eyebrow Shaping (15 min, £10).

The tranquil, below-ground Health Club also integrates fitness and nutrition with spa treatments. Personal trainers (60 minutes, £65.00) work with individuals on weights, flexibility and cardiovascular exercises. An in-house nutritionist might suggest post-workout “energy recovery” snacks, salads, and sandwiches, antioxidant smoothies, and water drinks containing vitamins, minerals and natural herb extracts for a pick-me-up or immune boost.

Treatments are available to the public as well as One Aldwych hotel guests and Health Club members. If your treatment lasts one hour or longer, you are welcome to use the Health Club facilities for a half hour before or after your appointment. Day membership at £30 includes use of all Health Club facilities.
