The Sheraton Grand Unveils Contemporary New Public Areas, Guestrooms and Meetings Complex Along with a New Restaurant and Bar

The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh has reopened on April 19, 2012, after undergoing a near-total multi-million pound refurbishment.  The UK’s flagship Sheraton Hotel offers fully-refurbished guest rooms, more than 14,000 square feet of newly renovated meeting and event space and a new restaurant and bar.  The hotel will also offer guests signature Sheraton experiences including Sheraton Fitness by Core Performance, a Sheraton Club Lounge and the Link@SheratonSM experienced with Microsoft, a unique communications hub in the new lobby which delivers the technology modern guests expect and require while on the road.

The re-launch of the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is part of the Sheraton brand’s multi-year revitalisation effort which has seen Sheraton and our owners invest more than USD $6 billion in opening new hotels and renovating existing Sheraton properties across the globe. Located in the heart of Edinburgh, adjacent to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and with the shops of Princes Street within easy walking distance, the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is Edinburgh’s newest five-star hotel, offering more than 25 years of operational excellence.  The interior design for the Sheraton Grand was undertaken by MKV Design, a leading interior design company exclusively servicing the international hospitality sector.  The new look creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere with a stylish and contemporary feel and new interiors featuring a neutral colour palette, modern materials and clean lines throughout, all accented with elegant Scottish finishes.

The Sheraton Grand Hotel is also home to One Spaone of Europe’s most advanced city spas, which opened in 2001.  The six-story, 34,000 square feet spa was the first of its kind in the UK and offers a wide range of spa treatments. Facilities include an inspiring gym and studios, a state-of-the-art 19 metre swimming pool with infinity edge, iconic rooftop Hydropool, 17 multi-purpose treatment rooms and a unique Thermal Suite providing a collection of heat and water experiences.

Other facilities at the newly refurbished Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa include:

269 fully-renovated guest rooms, designed in a contemporary Scottish style with frosted glass-walled bathrooms and state-of-the-art technology.  All rooms feature the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed and are decorated with natural furnishings and Scottish art.  The Grand Suite (the Sheraton’s Grand’s take on the Presidential Suite) is the hotel’s most opulent guest suite, boasting spectacular views of Edinburgh castle, a master bedroom with spacious dressing room, a separate twin-bedroom, lounge area, private lobby and cloakroom.

A newly-installed Sheraton Club Floor, where Club guests receive exclusive access to a bright and spacious Club Lounge.  Continental breakfast, evening canapés and complimentary drinks and snacks are available to guests throughout the day as well as free WiFi and access to Escape at One, One Spa’s exclusive Thermal Suite and rooftop Hydropool.

An exciting new bar and restaurant concept with a focus on local produce is headed by Executive Chef, Malcolm Webster.  Drawing inspiration from the grand cafes of Europe, the restaurant offers informal, brasserrie style dishes all day, every day.  In a salute to the British classics, the menu transitions as the day progresses, offering options such as a late breakfast or relaxing afternoon tea.  The stylish bar features a wide selection of local and international premium Gin as well as an extensive choice of beers.  The restaurant and bar has its own dedicated entrance and outdoor terrace and serves as a gathering place for locals and hotel guests alike.

A new dedicated meetings and events complex has been added, complete with its own private entrance.  With 14 flexible function rooms, the Conference & Banqueting area is the largest of its kind in Edinburgh.  The Atrium forms the centrepiece of the new events space with more than 5,400 square feet of floor space for receptions, exhibitions or break-out sessions.  The Edinburgh Suite will continue to be the largest hotel function space in the city.  Stylish, flexible and spacious, the refurbished Edinburgh Suite is able to accommodate up to 1,500 guests for a fashionable reception when combined with The Atrium.  Bathed in natural daylight, the Edinburgh Suite is a bright, welcoming space that can easily be divided into two equal halves for smaller events and functions.

New signature brand experiences, including the Link@Sheraton, provides complimentary WiFi and PC workstations so guests can surf the internet, email loved ones, review local attractions and print boarding passes while on the road.  Additionally, the Sheraton Grand offers Sheraton Fitness by Core Performance, a holistic fitness program which helps travelers remain fit and eat healthy while away from home, as well as refresh, recharge and refocus their minds and bodies.
