A caring, knowledgeable staff can guide brides-to-be, their bridal parties and families through a day at the spa, avoiding what could turn into a stressful time.  All it takes is a bit of planning and foresight according to Loretta Taylor, Director of Spa Operations at the acclaimed Skaná Spa at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Central New York.

“Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that cause the highest anxiety levels,” Taylor explained.  “Our staff is prepared to arrange anything for our guests and their bridal parties, from spa-theme invitations to a full-day’s line-up of rejuvenating spa treatments.”

Skaná – which means “peace” in the Oneida language – combines modern treatments with the centuries-old healing and wellness principles of the Oneida Indians to create a spa experience that promotes inner peace and harmony.   What better environment in which to gather with the wedding party or bridal celebrants?

When considering a peaceful Skaná experience, Taylor suggests selecting one person in the group to coordinate all spa appointments and save all e-mails in a spa file.  Be sure to consider everyone’s budget and ask if the spa has special packages or group discounts.

If facials are to be part of the event, services should occur at least two weeks prior to the wedding.  Purchasing gift certificates ahead of time is a good idea and eliminates money worries come spa time.

Be alert in advance to how payment will be made, recommends Taylor. “Know if each participant will pay for their own service or contribute for the bride’s services.  This avoids any embarrassing moments at check-out.”

Brides might consider giving guests spa favors such as aromatic travel kits, luxuriously scented scrubs or stylish pedicure sandals.

Most importantly, Taylor says, upon arrival at the spa, arrive early, don’t forget to turn off all phones, relax and enjoy!

Skaná Spa has 12 treatment rooms, full-service salon, co-ed mineral pool, soaking tubs, steam rooms, saunas, a luxurious VIP suite with plush amenities, couples treatment rooms, boutique and the Skaná Café.  Ranked among Spas of America’s Top 100 Spas for 2011, Skaná is the No. 2 Casino Spa experience, No. 4 among New York spas, and No. 81 globally.
