Spa Industry Invigorated by New Treatments and Statistics
The International SPA Association (ISPA) recently hosted the 18th annual ISPA Media Event at Gotham Hall in New York, NY. The annual gathering included ISPA member spas and resource partners, and was attended by leading beauty, business and travel media. The event promoted the spa industry and released new industry research while the participating ISPA members performed pioneering and unique treatments on the media.
“ISPA is thrilled to bring together the spa industry and the media to one location to showcase the spas’ cutting edge and innovative treatments,” said ISPA’s President Lynne McNees. “We know that spas are creating great experiences, relieving stress and improving wellbeing and we are excited to help tell that story.”
The industry Big 5, focused on five key statistics crucial to the spa industry including revenue, spa visits, the number of spa locations, total employment in the industry and square footage, were released as well.

Aspira Spa with their treatment “The Indigo Journey,” a body mask of clays and creams, a balancing massage using chromatherapyand ending with their signature Elderberry facial.
Clarins with their treatment “Path to Renewal,” an energizing leg treatment using aromatherapy to balance and restore energy.
Deborah Lippmann with their treatment, “Mini-Mani,” a quick and fun way to dress up your hands.
Edge Systems Corporation with their treatment, “HydraFacial™,” a resurfacing treatment providing cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration for your face.
Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat with their treatment, “The Australian Spirit of Sound,” a meditation that incorporates basalt stones, massage techniques all while choreographed to Australian music and sounds of nature.
Kohler Waters Spa with their treatment, “Lavender Parfait Hand Treatment,” a hand exfoliation that uses a honey-lavender salt scrub.
Massage Envy Spa with their treatment, “Sugar Foot Scrub,” a foot massage featuring towel cleansing, a lavender sugar scrub exfoliation and a moisturizing body butter finish.
Miraval Resort and Spa with their treatment, “Naga Thai Massage,” a treatment that has evolved from the healing principals of the Thai massage.

The Spa at Regent Palms with their treatment, “Oriental Essence Foot Ceremony,” an exfoliating spiced marmalade scrub followed by an energizing massage using smooth pebbles wrapped in fragrant bags soaked in warm oil.
